Hair/ Fur/ Feathers Protects sensitive organs (like eyes, nose, ears, etc.) from dirt, sweat and pollution, acts as a waterproof by helping to drain moisture, provides warmth in low temperatures
Nails/ Claws/ Talons Protect the tender ends of fingers and paws which contain millions of nerve endings that make these organs most sensitive to touch, Double up as biological weapons of attack and self defense
Scales Protect delicate skin from environmental damages, impart coloration and collectively act as a tough outer covering that protects against attacks from predators and other injuries
